Wordlearn: Learning Greek and Building My Own Study Tool ☁️

Today I worked on Wordlearn — a free Greek vocabulary trainer with flashcards, quizzes, progress tracking, and first A1-style reading exercises for exam preparation.

Today I've been working on Wordlearn, a little project designed to make learning Greek vocabulary easier and help beginners practise for Greek language exams. I wanted to build something simple, useful, and enjoyable enough that I'd actually use it every day.

When you're learning a new language, you quickly realise that reading word lists isn't enough. You need to test yourself, make mistakes, revisit difficult words, and see your progress. That's the idea behind Wordlearn.

What's already working?

You can practise Greek words with translations and pronunciation guides, type your answers, or choose from four options. There are hints, an "I don't know" button, and progress tracking. Words you struggle with come back more often.

You can practise as a guest, or create an account to save your progress online and continue on another device.

What about exam preparation?

I've also started building a section for Greek language exam practice. It already includes beginner-friendly A1 reading material and examples of Σωστό / Λάθος (True / False) reading comprehension exercises.

These are original practice exercises, not official exam papers or a complete exam simulator. More interactive activities, grammar practice, and reading exercises are on my roadmap.

What's next?

My goal is to gradually turn Wordlearn from a simple vocabulary trainer into a more complete Greek learning companion, with lessons, exercises, spaced review, and useful progress insights.

For now, Wordlearn is already available for free. Feel free to give it a try and share your feedback. I'd love to know whether it could be useful to other Greek learners, too. 🩵
